Here at St. Joseph, the changes dictated by
liturgical reform, modern lifestyles, and
restorations, have all been done with an eye to
retaining the integrity of the original
building. During the 2006 restoration, the pipe
organ was replaced with a Johannus 3 Manual 111
Ranks, but the original pipe organ’s façade was
preserved. The original communion rail was
returned to the church as a decorative
enhancement to the altar, and the church’s
statues were restored by a talented parishioner.
The same person plans to restore the Stations of
the Cross at some time in the future.
Also during 2006, structural repairs and
maintenance were completed on the church
including replacement of the slate roof, the
church’s floor, the electrical system, and the
heating & cooling system.
The
parish’s sense of stewardship for its historic
buildings led to the creation of a restoration
fund, the sole purpose of which is “to
perpetuate, support, and provide maintenance,
upkeep, repair, and/or improvement of the
church, other historical structures, primary
furnishings, and archival materials.”
Contributions and memorial gifts of any size are
gladly welcome. |
